This is one of my OCs that I will be submitting to here on DevArt. It's a fun contest to create a brand new avatar crew! I'm excited!
A friend sent me that BG, and I have no idea where she got it, so I can't give credit, though I know it's official art fromt he show. Sorry
Anyways, here are her details:
Name: Huo
Age: 17
Height: 5’2”
Weight: 120lbs
Nation: Fire Nation
History: Born into a middle class, fire nation family, Huo grew up knowing the value of good work and the rewards of an honest living. Her father worked at the palace as a guard, and her mother as a royal seamstress. With a total of six brothers (four older and two younger) she became her mother’s little girl, though she did not live up to her mother’s ladylike expectations, as her father and brother’s influences were far greater than that of her mother.
Her aspirations since her youthful years were to become a guard at the palace, as her father was. In the meantime, however, her mother educated her in the ways of the woman, teaching her to cook, clean, sew, and all other things that women normally do around the house. Huo took in the knowledge, but still went out into the yard when her father would work out with his boys to join them in their activities. Her firebending abilities were on par with her eldest brother, and sparring was a common activity amongst the siblings with such abilities, for only three of the six boys were firebenders.
As she grew older, her mother seemed to get more and more worried about something. She became more protective, not allowing Huo to take part in many activities that children her age were doing. On her sixteenth birthday, the day her mother had feared came, and the fire temple monks paid the large family a visit. They reminded her parents that Huo was to be the next avatar, telling them that they must take her away and train her. Her mother argued fiercely, repeating over and over that they must have made a mistake. Huo’s father had to hold his wife back in order for the monks to take their daughter. Huo tried to run away from this, confused and a bit angry at the sudden information, but was caught and taken to the temple.
At the temple, Huo was reluctant to start her training. She would refuse to train and would ignore their teachings. Eventually, she refused to firebend altogether. The monks grew irritated and angry with her, arguing, yelling, and some even employed somewhat violent means upon the girl, to get her to step up and accept her fate. She stood strong, refusing to eat much of anything and asking only to see her family again. No one had asked her if she wanted to be the avatar, and given the choice, she wasn’t sure she’d ask for it.
One night, as she lay in bed staring at the ceiling, her stomach growling from lack of food, she heard footsteps outside her door. Sitting up, she heard a voice call out her name. She followed the voice and it lead her to the inner sanctum, a room the monks had tried to get her to enter, but she’d avoided it. This time, the door was cracked open slightly and a light was emanating from within. She looked around to see if any of the monks were around, thinking this might be a ploy of theirs. Seeing and hearing no one around, she walked slowly to the doors and entered the sanctum.
Inside she saw a room full of statues, all standing tall and strict. She felt uneasy, yet familiar with these figures. The light in the room seemed to come from no candle, and its brightness intensified as she entered. The door behind her closed suddenly and she was greeted by one of her past lives. He introduced himself as Avatar Aang smiling kindly at her. He reprimanded her sternly for her stubbornness, telling her that she must step out beside herself, and think of the world’s wellbeing. She had an obligation to all the people of every nation, and it wasn’t something she could just shrug off. He told the story of how he’d tried to escape his fate, and how it had caused great destruction and suffering on the world. He continued on into the night, talking to her, scolding her, then encouraging her to do what she knew was right.
The monks found her the next day, asleep on the sanctum’s floor. She awoke and ate, and declared she was ready for her training. She still caused problems and arguments along the way, but she still worked with them, sometimes reluctantly, to learn what she needed to in order to take her place in the world. As she practiced firebending, she dabbled into the other practices, only able to do a few airbending tricks, which is why she needs to go on a journey and find masters to teach her the rest.
Personality: Strong and fierce, yet happy and entertaining, Huo can be quite the handful sometimes. She smiles and plays around, loving to play childhood pranks. She is very opinionated and boisterous, and believes in working hard and taking care of herself, rather than letting someone do it for her. She has accepted her fate and place in the world, though she isn’t ready to be happy about. She gets frustrated and angry when it comes to training, but has gotten better at accepting her fate. She bickers with her masters constantly, yet practices their teachings fervently when they are not around. She fears her fate and what might happen to her and those she loves, but does not freely admit to her fear as she does not want to be perceived as weak.
Lol! Great! It really is worth it. I don't know if Youtube has all the episodes, but if you have a bittorrent downloading program, you can download all of the episodes, including the ones that aired recently. ^^
