I find I draw a whole lot more when I'm busy with schoolwork. Study for a test, work on a drawing, chip away at my script, do a lineart. It works nicely and helps with the tension. I have several images that I switch back and forth from, and then post whichever one gets completed. Now back to a commission and some more YCMD linearts.

Preliminary (as in might change some) design for a character I'd like to use in The WormWood Project that *Tyshea is doing, including other artists in her Salad Days story.

As the story of Salad Days goes, WormWood High School is a school for teenagers of the supernatural. There are vampires, a reaper, were-wolves, ghosts, and all sorts of supernatural beings. Already, this is sounding good, isn't it? (check the links above if you want more information.)

Mariana is a chupacabra. Even as language is a bit of a barrier (she speaks English with a heavy accent and sometimes mixes up words or forgets how to say something in English) she's still very friendly. She is peculiar-looking, but she isn't really exceptional and doesn't stand out. She's always curious and always asking questions, especially when it comes to cultural things she has no idea about, and many times has strange things to say. She loves to learn about history, and her hobbies are reading strange books (like the Encyclopedia,) napping and playing chess. She has to drink animal blood (for nutritional reasons) once a month but remains a vegan for the rest of the month.

Behind the design: when I had to come up with a mythological creature to base a character on, my mind instinctively went to the chupacabra. I grew up in PR, so I was there when all the stories and sightings erupted, and when parents used the story of the chupacabras to get kids to eat their vegetables.

So, as eyewitnesses say, the chupacabra was lizzard-like and sometimes panther-like, had gray-ish green skin, had long claws and spines running down its back. I decided to substitute the spines with hair that grows a different color across the middle of her head. ^^

The chupacabra would drain livestock of blood, sometimes a few dozen animals in one night, through three holes that it would make in the neck. Hence, she has three really sharp teeth.
